What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis is scientifically proven as the most potent form of treatment for the Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is effective by treating the symptoms of Autism by increasing client skill development and reducing challenging behaviors.
ABA utilizes positive reinforcement to teach children the necessary skills and to decrease maladaptive behaviors within their everyday lives. ABA therapy can be provided in all different types of settings. ABA therapy can be conducted in structured sessions with discrete trial training or sessions can take place in the child’s natural environment through the child’s daily activities.
Clinicians teach children skills by breaking down large tasks and skills into small steps. The clinician then gives the child many opportunities to practice that skill and have the skill become a part of their repertoire. Through this process of treatment, your child’s communication, social and behavior skills will improve and develop.
